I love San Diego!!!

Ah, the beauty of San Diego. I love it here in the city but sometimes you need to get away. Today, my friend Edith and my son drove up to Lake Cuyamaca . It was about a 35 minute drive inland. We took the 8 East, then the 79 North and then followed the signs. We are so lucky. Living in San Diego, we have almost perfect weather all year long, and if you want to get away you can drive out to the desert, the mountains, the river, the ocean, or another country. There is always something to do or somewhere to go and explore.

Our trip up to Lake Cuyamaca was a first for my son and my friend. I had been there once as a teenager camping with a friend’s family and had the worst time ever. I nearly froze to death while camping in a tent. I put on every single item of clothing I had brought with me including five pairs of socks and my shoes. I had my entire body from head to toe inside my sleeping bag. It was horrible! Needless to say, I never went camping again.

Now as an adult and a parent, I think our little day trip has changed my mind about the “great outdoors” it was just magnificent up there! But I still don’t think I will be camping in a tent any time soon. Maybe in an RV, where there is heat. ;-)

Check out the beautiful scenery, even though I didn’t get a picture of the lake. I know, it kind of defeats the purpose of going up to the lake in the first place. You’ll just have to drive up there and check out how gorgeous it is for yourselves.

My intention was to drive up and do a photo shoot with my son. Edith was to be my assistant. We drove up with a car full of props and clothes, but we ended up using one chair and didn’t even change his outfit. My son was not the in the mood to be my model today…he got a little fussy. It’s okay though, I prefer these tearful photos over some of the happy ones. As his mother, these are the ones that melt my heart. Click on the 1st photo and you will see the big crocodile tear running down his face. Sigh, these are the moments I treasure. The moments where he is just being himself. He’s not usually so crabby, but his nap schedule got all messed up today and then it was time to eat shortly after we got started. He was fine after he ate, but the sun was starting to set.

Even though things didn’t go as planned. I’m still glad I was able to share this beautiful place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with one of my closest friends and my little munchkin.
